We are working with partners on two projects. The Natural Bridges Enhancement began in 2016 in partnership with CA State Parks, California Native Plant Society, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, community members, and the students and teachers at CAMP (Santa Cruz COE), Gateway Elementary School, Natural Bridges High School, and Redwood High School. The work has helped increase habitat for nesting Brandt’s Cormorants, restore dune habitat and rebuild the primary entrance to the beach.

The Santa Cruz Monarch Enhancement Project is a partnership with the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County and CA State Parks to develop a Management Plan for the Monarch Overwintering Grove following the template we created for Lighthouse Field and to begin implementing recommended enhancement actions that will benefit overwintering monarchs. One thing we know is good for monarchs and pollinators in general is to plant native nectar plants. Check out our list of early and late flowering nectar plants for Santa Cruz County here.
